Same Kind of Different as Me

I just read a great book – probably the best book I have read in a very long time called Same Kind of Different as Me. It is by Denver Moore and Ron Hill. I don’t want to say alot about it because it will spoil it for you. But please believe me when I say it is a must read. Denver Moore grew up in Louisiana as a sharecropper and ended up in Fort Worth, Texas where he met Ron Hill at the Union Gospel Mission. Their story is incredible. It was crazy that most of the places in the book, I’ve been to. I have been to the Union Gospel Mission – I’ve known people from there. And I wonder if I ever saw or was introduced to Mr. Moore and I just don’t remember because I was in too much of a hurry to really pay attention to who I was talking to. This book made me self examine a lot. I was blown away by the wisdom, character, strength, and humility of Mr. Moore. So thank you to Ross Sawyers and Vince and Sharon Rice for introducing us to Mr. Moore and this book. And please go read it, you won’t regret it at all.

Blessings

Since leaving our jobs back in the middle of August, Paul and I have had one thing after another it seems like and most of it is medical expenses. The God we serve is greater than any difficulty we may face. He saw our need and provided for us beyond our imagination. Praise be to God.

Life in the "Sip"

Paul and I have been in Mississippi (aka the “sip”) for almost a month and it has been wonderful. We have helped out my parents some, gone fishing, seen some friends. Paul made his first trip to Memphis and had a blast. We ate at the best rib joint ever called the Rendevous. If you have never been it is a must when in Memphis.
We have been sick since arriving in Mississippi. It has been one thing after another, but nothing serious. It’s just enough sick to make you feel kinda lousy.
One last thing- I just read “Same kind of different as me” by Ron HIll and Denver Moore. If you haven’t read this book you must go and buy it TODAY. It is the best book I have read in a very long time. Just make sure you read the last 25 chapters by yourself.
